Bonnie 'Prince' Billy 'Good To My Girls'
Off topic post for a song I’ve been listening to a lot this week. This is Will Oldham, aka Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy singing his version of a Matt Sweeney number as the last song of his concert in London at the start of December.
I was lucky enough to get to Will’s concert in Frankfurt a few days before this. It was a magical evening and, whilst I’m disappointed not to have found a recording of that show, this from a few nights afterwards is a wonderful listen. His songs, words and performances have been an enormous influence and source of joy for as long as I can remember making music.
The complete recording of the London show is available at Dimeadozen here and the photo above is from the Frankfurt show. Click through it for the original post on Instagram.
'KIEL' free download and limited CD-r now available
A recording from my concert at Prinz Willy in Kiel, Germany on the 25th of November is now available for everyone through my Bandcamp as a full quality download and also as a very simple, physical edition on CD-r.
This was a nice evening for me, with a quiet audience and a great sound in the little place. I worked on the recording the past weekend and I think it turned out ok, perhaps the best sounding concert I've had for a while.

Fire Escape
Originally released in an edition of just 20 CD’s in March 2008, and unavailable since then, ‘Fire Escape’ is a mini-album of six songs, including the 12 minute ‘I Will See Myself Out’. Recorded in a couple of different Brighton rooms, including the basement of an Oxfam shop, this features Sam Collins on electric guitar on most tracks. A loose, scrappy little set of songs recorded and released within a matter of days.
'Fire Escape' has now been remastered and the download includes new linear notes. All subscription releases are also available during the month they come out as limited CD-r editions which I personalise and will send to you where ever you are.
FREITAL II
My recording from my concert at the Spielbühne in Freital, Germany on the 4th of November 2022 is available through Bandcamp and on Patreon now.
The download is free / pay what you like and the simple, CD-r + download edition is limited to just 50 numbered copies and is €10 plus postage. I’ll send them out when I'm back from some concerts in a week and they look like this:
This was a long concert over 2 sets and I cut some tracks from the recording due to some issues with the signal I had from the mixing desk. I also played a couple of songs in the room which are missing, you can imagine.
Anyway, it runs like this - just about squeezing onto a single CD-r.
